Evernote did two things yesterday and both are equally important. First it has released a beta version for Windows Desktop. The ever popular note taker has launched the beta version for Windows PCs now has a very fine interface with many improvements and enhancements.
The latest beta App from Evernote now has all new new search and discovery functions to allow Windows desktop users to easily find whatever they want and get the relevant information even as they are searching for it.
The above preview video released by Evernote explains everything in detail. Just to add the now Evernote Premium users rediscover content with related notes with this one. You can get the Evernote 5 beta here.
Now to the real news, the Evernote simultaneously updated its Apps for iOS users. The latest version of the App numbered at vv5.4 has added shortcuts feature and ability to rediscover ones notes.
The updated version has put in a Shortcuts feature which allows users to move their notes etc. in such a way that you can access them any time any where. The shortcuts can also in-sync across all older versions of Evernote with this one. A user has to tap on the tab with a star to view important notes, tags or any Evernote Business notebook. You can also add shortcuts to saved searches which can be done by tapping the star icon at the bottom of the screen. To create a shortcut for a notebook or a tag you want to access regularly, open the said notebook or tag and tap on the shortcuts tab. You have to select the first option which add the notebook.
The update also has something in its Premium users. They can now enjoy a very special and new Related Notes feature. Each time a user starts a fresh note, the App will search for a connected helpful term in his account which he may have forgotten about. As he works on the current note, the Related Notes will show the most related notes at the bottom of the screen.
However the Recent Notes feature is available for both Free and Premium users wherein you can view your recently viewed notes at the bottom of the screen. The catch, Premium users can swithc back and forth from Recent Notes to Related Notes while free users cant!
The new update also lets you annotate their notes with 'Skitch' however you have to first download and install the Skitch App. Once installed, to annotate an image within a note or add a Skitch you just have to tap on the Skitch icon and once you have completed your annotations, the App will update the image. The Premium users are in for a bonus here too. They can annotate PDF with this feature. For Notes with PDFs you have the option to edit with Skitch in the title bar. Tapping on it will open the PDF in Skitch where you can do various things you want with PDF.
